After a long and stressful day, some people love to come home and spend time in their garden. They’ve carefully chosen all the plants and flowers that are planted, and have selected special Buddha Garden Statues and ornaments in the garden also.

It’s very peaceful to relax in a garden full of plants and flowers if you’re not the actual gardener yourself. Just sitting and enjoying the beauty can be very relaxing.

As most people know, green is probably one of the most relaxing colors in the spectrum. It is also the color of safety, of peace and of nature; hence, it isn’t exactly a surprise why some people look forward to working in their gardens after a long and tiring day at work.

Why if Buddha is Indian do we Buy Chinese Laughing Buddha?
This is a rhetorical question that welcomes respectful responses. It’s really an answer to an identical question posed before:
The Buddha was born in Nepal, on the India-Chinese border or thereabouts. There are a lot of mixed, half-Indian, half-Chinese there with mongoloid features. The statue of the Buddha is not an idol to be worshipped and thus not idolotry. He smiles or laughs because it is healthy to do so, the way the Dalai Lama smiles often and like Dick Clark hasn’t aged terribly since I last saw a photo of him in 1984. There is heavy-set laughing version of the Buddha like the exiled spiritual leader of the Buddhists, the 14th Dalai Lama, I believe to show that he is satiated or satisfied from cravings like hunger for food, or desires for too much sex which cause one to lose valuable sex energy.
There is another statue of the Buddha in deep meditation, not smiling, and thin. This also adds to the ancient Chinese phenomenon of Yin and Yang. On the one hand, the Buddha smiles or laughs to show Tolerance & Open-mindedness. On the other hand, there is the serious Buddha who is serious so that people do not take advantage of his kind demeanor (throughout life you have seen people who are nice and trusting and open, being taken advantage of–this gives rise to the saying “Nice guys finish last”–But there’s a balance, you can both be nice and also protect your God-given, natural rights.
The Buddha wasn’t a god, nor did he ever claim to be. He said “I’m awake”. Buddhism is very flexible and scientific.
