These statues were built during the sixth century. The statues represented the classic blended style of Indo-Greek art.
now a days becauses of terrorism visitors are very rare.

Buddhism spread throughout all of Asia, and still is practiced in most countries in Asia today. Hopefully, the statues will one day be replaced and the point will be made that the Taliban and their version of “loving and peaceful” Islam was just a sham.

Sadly it’s true, the Taliban blew them into oblivion.

Now they are nothing but piles of sandstone rubble and clay plaster.
