Statues Of The Buddha…and White Birds.?
An Asker in History stated that, when a Buddha statue she’d purchased was broken, three dead white parrots fell out. An Answerer told them that it was common practice to seal three living white birds into Buddha statues to represent purity. I’ve never heard of nor can conceive of such a thing!
Before I start breaking all my imported Buddhist statues to see if there are any nasty surprises in them…have any of you ever heard of this? Or was this Answerer grotesquely lying to the Asker?
What motivation could he possibly have?
Enlighten me, please.

Ha Ha
No Very large Rupas [ Statues ] in Tibetan Buddhism are filled with monks Robes and Dharma but they are not filled with Parrots or any other wild life I can assure you
There are some items that do need to be checked
Some years ago I purchased a Tibetan Prayer Wheel made in Nepal These are supposed to be filled with Mantra
I got curious as to how many could fit in this thing and carefully opened it up To my amazement The roll of Mantra only covered the outside Inside was Newspaper Something like the Kathmandu Times with adverts for computer courses in the UK
Given the amount of times I turned this thing I would suspect they had a large intake that year With high marks !!

Lol
I’m glad you enjoyed the crack
Sounds like your friend is spreading an urban legend. This goes against the teachings of the Buddha, who taught that animals are also sentient beings deserving of compassion. Besides, wouldn’t the statue have started to smell with rotting bird carcasses in there? That’s just gross. I can’t imagine why anyone would find this credible.
This is sad if it is true, but it could be someone who was very superstitious. Good luck on finding the truth. And why brake what you have just to see if there is dead animals inside them. Just don’t buy ones that do not come with wholes in the base of the statue.
This is a first
Let me finish my Cup of Tea

Moral of the story: Fill up statues before completely before displaying them.
Not true, no such practice
Buddha is NOT God, Bubbha did not say, make a image of him or worship him!
• Bible says: GOD IS ONE.
“Shama Israelu Adonai Ila Hayno Adonai Ikhad.”
This is a Hebrew quotation, which means:
“Hear, O Israel; The Lord our God is one Lord.” [KJV, Mark 12:29]
• Ye men of Israel, hear these words; Jesus of Nazareth, a MAN approved of God among you by miracles and wonders and signs, which God did by him in the midst of you, as ye yourselves also know: KJV Acts 2:22
• God Almighty does NOT know of any other god!! (Isaiah 44:8)
• He who says, ‘I know him, and does not keep his commandments, is a liar, and the truth is not in him.” 1 John 2:4, KJV.
• True Christian doctrine is that there is only one God, who has ever existed anywhere, anyplace, anytime. There is no God formed before God; there will be no God formed after God. (Isaiah 43:10).
God doesn’t even know of any other Gods (Isaiah 44:8).
There is only one God in existence in the entire universe.
•You shall worship the Lord your God, and Him only shall you serve” (Luke 4:8; Matt. 4:10).
•Jesus said: If ye love me, keep the commandments. KJV John 14:15
The Ten Commandments
1. You shall have no other Gods but me. Exodus 20:3
2. You shall not make for yourself any idol, nor bow down to it or worship it. Exodus 20:4
•Do not add to what I command you and do not subtract from it, but keep the commands of the Lord your God that I give you. Deuteronomy 4:2
•Jesus said: But in vain they do worship me, teaching [for] doctrines the commandments of men. KJV Matthew 15:9
