An Asker in History stated that, when a Buddha statue she’d purchased was broken, three dead white parrots fell out. An Answerer told them that it was common practice to seal three living white birds into Buddha statues to represent purity. I’ve never heard of nor can conceive of such a thing!
Before I start breaking all my imported Buddhist statues to see if there are any nasty surprises in them…have any of you ever heard of this? Or was this Answerer grotesquely lying to the Asker?
What motivation could he possibly have?
Enlighten me, please.
