They were destroyed

that fat guy in the Chinese restaurants is NOT Lord Buddha, but a Chinese bodhisattva. The real Buddha was very thin. Haven’t you seen any statues of the historical Buddha?

I’ve been collecting Buddha statues for a few years now and don’t really have that many, but I love them. I think they’re beautiful and display them in my living room. I myself am not Buddhist. I am Christian. But I respect and love to learn about all religions. I have an om symbol tattooed on my wrist as well. Another symbol from another religion. I hadn’t really thought much of any of this until someone told me that God is a jealous God. Now I am worried that i’m being a bad Christian or disrespecting my own religion by having these other religious symbols. Am I just letting someone’s opinion drive me nuts or am I in the wrong?
I also should mention that I have many paintings of Mother Mary and Jesus in my house as well as blessings and Jesus Candles.
I just like religious art!

When in fact, wasn’t Siddhartha Gautama, the first Buddha? He is portrayed as thin in statues.
